Chinese companies invested in 129 projects worth $330 million in Laos in 2003, while bilateral trade increased 71% from the year before, totalling $109 million, with Laos running a deficit of over $86 million.
Leaders of the two countries pledged Thursday to double their bilateral trade in 2004, during Chinese Vice-Premier Wu Yi’s visit to Vientiane where the two sides signed a package of 11 cooperation agreements on agriculture, chemical production, and hydro-power exploration.
