Thailand has approved a 197-million Baht fund to assist in the construction of a railway track between Nong Khai and Vientiane, which is scheduled to start this year and expected to be completed and ready for use in 2005. The Thai government has also agreed in principle to support, with a funding of 1,500 million Baht, the construction of the third bridge linking northern Laos and Thailand, between Houay Xai in Laos' Bokeo province and Chiengkhong in Thailand's Chiengrai province.
