Lao Illegal Child Labor in Thailand - 2003-12-16

According to an International Labor Organisation-supported survey, more than half of the Lao children aged 15-17 working in Thailand could have become the victims of human trafficking.

The survey based on a sampling of some 36,398 people in 5,966 Lao households in the provinces of Khammuan, Savannakhet and Champassak. More than one in five of all Lao migrants from these three provinces are under the age of 18, with girls accounting for more than two-thirds, making this group the most venerable to human traffickers.
