Laos and Thailand formally signed a power purchase agreement under which Laos will provide electricity generated by the Nam theun 2 Dam to Thailand for 25 years, bringing Laos an annual income of $230 millions. In other news, a Malaysian company is builing a hotel and shopping complex on the Donchanh Island in the Capital city of Laos to be completed in 2005, and China is investing in a second tobacco plant in Savannakhet.
