The road is to begin in Kunming, the capital of southwestern Yunnan province, and run for almost 1,890 kilometers, through Laos, to the capital of Thailand.
Chinese state media say construction will start soon and that China will provide 30-million dollars in loand and donations to help Laos build its section of the highway
