In an usually detailed report about Laos' economy, the World Bank reduces its forecast for that country's growth from 6% to 5.5% for this year and from 6.6% to 6% for 2004, because of falling tourism due to SARS.
Laos has also been hit hard by inflation, which jumped from 7% in April-May 2002 to 18% in March 2003.
