More than 2,500 Hmong and Lao-Americans signed petitions to urge the U.S Congress not to consider extending normal trade relations to the Lao PDR, citing the Lao government's poor human rights records among other reasons.
Supporting their cause are Congressmen Ron Kind from Wisconsin, Mark Green - also from Wisconsin, and George Radanovich from California.
