A fact finding commission in California says the Lao government has been using conventional and chemical weapons to attack minorities and particularly veterans of the US "Secret Army" fighting in the Vietnam war, causing devastating effects on children.
Members of the commission who were recently in Washington, to present video-taped evidences of their allegations to administration officials and members of Congress, were interviewed by staffer Dara Baccam.
Laotian defense minister, General Douangchay Phichit, denies the allegations, saying the charges are fabricated. U.S Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Matthew Daley recently told Congress that the U.S Embassy in Vientiane continues to investigate and evaluate all such claims, but has not been able to verify them.
