Illegal Drugs Trade Harms The Economies of Developing Nations - 2003-04-01

A UN report says the drug economy traps people in poverty in developing countries, creating serious social problems, leading to higher crime rates, weaker governments and damaged political systems.

The report says farmers who grow illegal crops earn jsut 1% of the money spent by drug users, while 99% of the profits go to the people who transport and sell the drugs around the world.
