Hmongs Excel in American Mainstream - 2003-02-13

After over two decades of resettling in this country, the Hmong people have now succeeded in their struggle to be a part of the American society.

Hmongs are well-represented in educational, political, as well as business fields in the states where they live. That is not to say that they did not suffer any hardship. Depression and worry about their future caused hundreds of Hmong men to mysteriously die in their sleep during the first ten years of resettlement in the U.S., according to Dr. Yang Dao, a Hmong himself and an expert on Asian studies at the University of Minnesota.
