In a statement released on February 7, State Department Spokesman Richard Boucher condemned the fatal attack near Vang Vieng, saying the US supports the rule of law in Laos and the efforts of the Lao government to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
Laotian authorities, who have yet to identify and apprehend the perpetrators of the ruthless ambush, insist it was the works of bandits.
