Over 400,000 Laotians Live in the U.S. - 2003-01-09

Thousands of Laotian refugees came to resettle in the US after their homeland, the former kingdom of Laos, fell into Communists hands in 1975.

Since then, their number has grown to over 400,000, with the majority being the Hmong people (over 200,000) followed by the Lao Loum (over 100,000).
