Traditional Folklore is a part of Laos' culture and livelihood.
It is embedded in our culture and traditions. Laotians are avvery happy people;
they sing and dance in almost occasion, welcoming party,wedding, harvest season. Each region of Laos has its own folklore and rhythm. This
traditional folklore has been incorporated into its identity and become unique
to its people and region.
Lao’s rich traditions comprise many folklores from various regions as far north as Phongsaly all the way south to Champassak. This week, VOA-Lao Music program is proud to celebrate, cherish and preserve these beautiful traditions by playing “Lam Salavanh” by Achan Khampha Inthisan of France, followed by “Lam Mahaxay” by Achan Sengphet Souriyavongxay, also of France. The last song “Lam Phuan” of Xieng Kuang province is sung by Rasmy Phoudindong of the Lao PDR. Enjoy!
