Thai authorities last week arrested two Hmongs suspected of being agents of the Lao government in Ban Houei Nam Khao in Thailand's Phetchabun province. The men were filming the Hmong refugees shelter when they were nabbed. The men denied the allegation, saying they came to look for their wives who fled Laos last year.
The Hmong men are now being detained in Lomsack district police station without charge because they entered Thailand legally. It is not clear what the Thai authorities will do with them.
In another development, Thai officials have deported 53 Hmongs from Ban Huay Namkhao, whom they say entered the country illegally.
