The Lao government is aiming to lift its people out of poverty by the year 2010, particularly in the more than 40 districts throughout the country where most people still live in abject poverty, making less than one dollar per day per person.
Lao authorities say they plan to expand their national povery reduction fund and its role in reducing the number of poor households to 10% of population by 2010.
