Monsoon Floods Cause Serious Economic Damages to GMS Nations


The monsoon season has dumped heavy rains on GMS nations, destroying crops and causing economic damages in the millions of dollars. Most severely affected is Thailand with 52 of the 76 provinces inundated and suffering economic damages worth over 7 billion Bahts so far. 75 people have lost their lives in the floods.

In Laos, the provinces of Luang Namtha, Sayabouly, and Khmamouane are the most affected, while in Myanmar, over 20 persons died in the Mandalay area and over 30 still unaccounted for.
