Laos authorities have outlined their tourism plans and goals for the next decade, aiming to increase revenues to at least $500 million starting in 2013 by promoting cultural and eco-tourism.
Laos officials say over one million tourists visited their country in 2005, up from approximately 900,000 in 2004, generating revenues of over $146 million as compared to $119 million the year before. They add that they expect tourism income to top $170 million this year and the number of foreign tourists well over one million.
