In an effort to crack down harder on illegal labor from Laos, Myanmar and Kampuchea, Thai authorities have offered cash rewards to Thai citizens who have information on either the illegal workers themselves, their employers, or traffickers.
Thai officials say they have records of more than 90,000 properly registered workers from Laos, of whom over 40,000 have had their nationality verified. But they estimate there are currently approximately 400,000 illegal Lao workers in Thailand.
