Hmong children in Thailand’s Phetchaboun province are increasingly facing severe malnutrition because of limited food assistance provided to their mothers. The more than 80 Hmong children are members of the 6000 plus Hmong refugees from Laos living in makeshift shelters along the road leading to Ban Houai Nam Kham in Khao Khoh District.
The refugees, who are not allowed to plant vegetables or to work, receive food assistance from international aid groups at a rate of 1.5 kilograms of rice per person per week.. But a Thai official say the food shipments have been late for two weeks now.
