Laotian authorities say they will promote tourism in their country to aim for an annual increase of at least 15% in the number of foreign tourists coming to visit the communist country for the next 15 years.

For 2006 alone, tourism officials say they expect more than 1.5 million tourists, including over 500-thousand foreign visitors to the capital city of Vientiane alone. Foreign tourists are expected to generate an income of almost $200 million

Other favorite tourist destinations are World Heritage sites Luang Prabang and Champassack, followed by Savannakhet, land of dinosour fossils.
