A court in Thailand's Phetchabun province has sentenced seven Thai Hmongs to prison for providing shelter to a group of Hmongs from Laos and for bringing them to live illegally in Huay Nam Khao village.
Over 6,000 Hmongs, who have been evicted from the village in July, are now living in a squatter community along the roadside. Thai authorities, who say those Hmongs are illegal migrants, are trying to send them back to Laos who refuses to take them, saying the issue of those Hmongs is Thailand's internal affairs.
