Israeli troops have entered two settlements in the southern Gaza Strip, hoping to finish evacuating the biggest bloc of Jewish enclaves in the coastal Palestinian territory.
In the Katif settlement, Jewish settlers and their supporters set fire to a barricade of tires and rubbish as the troops approached early today (Sunday). The settlers, many wearing orange shirts as a symbol of their protest movement, clapped and sang as the sky filled with thick, black smoke.
