Laos: Only Half of High School Graduates Will Go On to Higher Education

Laos’ National University will be able to take in no more than 3400 students for the school year 2005-06 that will soon begin, while throughout the country only about half of the 40,000 high school graduates will be able to go on to higher education both in the public and private sector.

Meanwhile, Lao authorities say they expect the values of gold and copper exports for 2005 will increase 70% from 2004. And two-way trade between Laos and Vietnam has increased in favor of Laos.
