Laos has reshuffled several important politcal positions in advance of the 8th Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, replacing ministers of education, labor, and internal security among other posts.
Several provincial chiefs were also replaced, including the governors of Xiengkhouang, Borikhamsay, Savannakhet, and Champassack.
The reshuffle is seen as a move to give the younger-generation politicians more say and more role in running the country.
