ADB: Traffic Accidents Cause Great Economic Loss for Laos

An Asian Development Bank report says Laos is one of the South East Asian countries that suffer large economic loss, amounting to more than 4% of the country’s GDP, due to a high rate of traffic accidents that happen every year.

The report says during the past year, there have been over 5,100 road accidents in Laos, resulting in more than 420 deaths and over 6,700 injuries. Most of the accidents were caused by reckless and drunk driving, involving motorcycles.
