Thai authorities still do not know what to do with the 6,000 plus Hmong refugees who they allege came from Laos and are now living in Phetchaboon province. But Lao officials reject the allegations and say those Hmong people are from inside Thailand and considered a matter of Thailand’s internal affairs, just like the Hmong refugees at Wat Tham Krabok.
Thai officials fear that pressuring those Hmong to return to Laos will sour its relationship with its neighbor.
