The Lao People’s Court in Vientiane handed down death sentences to five people convicted of drug smuggling, gave four more life imprisonment and sentenced another person a two-year prison term.
All were members of the same drugs trafficking gang, and were convicted of smuggling almost 400,000 amphetamines into Laos and transporting the drugs from Bokeo province to Vientiane.
Two of the ten convicted are Burmese nationals.
