Advocates, Some Lawmakers Outraged at Trump's Ban of Transgender People from US Military
President Donald Trump announced that the United States will no longer allow transgender people in the U.S. military. It provoked apparent surprise at the Pentagon and outrage from advocacy groups and a number of Republican and Democratic lawmakers. The reversal of Obama administration policy could affect an estimated 2,500 active-duty transgender members of the military and would ban other transgender individuals in the future.
