Muslims Climb Nearly 700 Meters Above Sea Level to Visit Cave Where Islam Began

Nearly 700 meters above sea level is a cave in Mecca where the Prophet Muhammad is believed to have spent much time in isolated contemplation. Some pilgrims making the annual trip – or hajj – to the holy city in Saudi Arabia brave a vertical climb to stand in a mountaintop cave where they believe Koranic revelations began. Arash Arabasadi reports.
