Hundreds of Hmongs Are Without Shelter After A Fire Broke out at Huay Nam Khao Camp

More than 2,000 Hmong refugees are without shelter after fire broke out in zone B of Huay Nam Khao detention center in Kao Kho district, Phetchabun province of Thailand yesterday.

It’s not clear what is the cause or who is behind this incident? Many Hmongs blamed Thai officials for the fire because they are angry at the Hmong protest which began on May 16, 2008. But Thai army said the Hmongs are behind the cause of fire because they want to create tensions that will make Thailand stop the repatriation.

However, Thai official said every thing is under control now, but the biggest problem is more than 2,000 Hmong refugees have no place to live under the heavy rain every day, and said there will be an investigation and those committed this incident will be punished.
