The Lao government and the National Assembly have ratified Aticles 138 and 182 of the International Workers Rights Protection Convention, aiming to protect child labor in Laos. In another development, the Nam Mang hydro-power dam, which is scheduled to start operating at the end of the year, is expected to produce 140 million KW/hr of electricity per year for domestic consumption.
