Laotian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mr. Somsavath Lengsavat, told VOA-Lao that Sunday's bus attack was the work of a group of at least 10 bandits, not Hmong rebels.
According to Mr. Lengsavat, the attack killed 10 people and injured at least 31 others.
The victims were all students returning to Vientiane after the Lao New Year celebration in Luang Prabang.
