FCC Supports Allegations of Hmong Killings with Video by Independent Photojournalist

The US-based Fact Finding Commission (FFC) on August 15 presented at the House Longworth Building a video documenting the massacre based on interviews of survivors by American photojournalist Roger Arnold .

As alleged by Amnesty
International and the FFC, the killings took place in early April in the area north of Vang Vieng district. The victims were mainly women and children.

Independent photojournalist Roger Arnold was
smuggled into the area in late April. He reached the Hmong village after a three-day trek across the jungle. He visited the scene of the massacre, the burial sites, and interviewed survivors.

The allegations led the US Embassy in Laos to call for an investigation into the killings. The Lao government's spokesman, Yong Chanthalansy, categorically denied the massacre.
