08/08/05 World News: Seven Russian Sailors Safe After Submarine Rescue


All seven sailors that were trapped in a Russian submarine on the ocean floor for three days have arrived safely in port following a rescue operation.
Russian officials say the men appear to be in satisfactory condition. They are undergoing medical exams at the (Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky) port in far eastern Russia, where they were taken by a navy ship after today's (Sunday's) rescue.

The six-party talks in Beijing on North Korea's nuclear program have recessed with plans to resume near the end of the month.

Iraq's political leaders plan to meet today (Sunday) to discuss how to break a deadlock on a new draft constitution.
